Capt. T. N. Simeona, the pound master for the Kohala area on the Big Island near the end of the 19th century, was killed in the line of duty on Sept. 30, 1890. His story was told and his name added to the police memorial wall at the Hilo Police Station on Monday during the Hawai‘i Police Department’s National Police Week ceremony.
A new name will be unveiled on the Hawaiʻi County Police Department Memorial Wall: Capt. T. N. Simeona, who was murdered in a shootout with a suspect in North Kohala on Sept. 25, 1890.
