City council Tuesday advanced the Legacy Pointe sports project. It’s supposed to host tournaments with youth teams from around the Midwest, helping the local hospitality industry.
Supporters around the horseshoe say the financial risk is little to none. When Ald. Erin Conley asked developer Steve Lueker who would own the place if things don’t work out, the answer was, “Um … probably the bank.”
Mayor Langfelder said there will never be a better time than now.
Next week is scheduled to be the final vote to get it started. The indoor – outdoor center, planned for land near Scheels, is to be paid for with hotel-motel tax revenues.
