RACINE — Thoughts for Food, a fundraiser for the Racine Food Bank, is back at two venues George s Tavern, 1201 N. Main St., and the Eagles Club, 319 Hamilton St.
RACINE â The COVID-19 pandemic is having a significant on three major local events coming up in the next couple weeks.
The St. Patrickâs Day parade is canceled, but two popular food-supporting fundraisers are still a go â albeit online.
Parade
For the second year in a row, St. Patrickâs Day will be celebrated without a parade in Racine.
Bars and restaurants are planning events to coincide with what is normally one of the City of Racineâs biggest annual celebrations, in part due to the cityâs large Catholic and Irish populations, not to mention a vibrant bar scene.

There’s another group, however, that you might not know about
CKUA’s transmitter monitors. These tech-savvy souls keep CKUA on the air even when weather, power outages and well, ravens, are working against them.
“They’re definitely important,” says
Don Haberstock, CKUA’s Engineering Technician. “They’re our first call when there’s a transmitter problem. The monitors are our eyes at the site, helping us work out what the issue is.”
