KENT COUNTY, Mich. â For Shaun Doss, the ability to compete is everything. The Hudsonville High School senior is known for overcoming obstacles and inspiring those around him.
Doss was paralyzed at the age of three, after being involved in a car crash caused by a distracted driver. I had a traumatic brain injury, so I don t really remember anything, Doss told FOX 17 News. It was really bad.

LOS ALAMITOS, CA The parents of Orange County murder victims joined prosecutors and crime victims Monday calling for criminal justice reform during a rally for victims of violent crime. The crowd gathered at the annual victim s rights rally sponsored by the Orange County District Attorney s Office.
Steve Herr, the father of Sam Herr, whose killer,Daniel Wozniak, was sentenced to death, said he felt relief after jurors reached verdicts 6 1/2 years after his son s murder. That relief was shortlived after Gov. Gavin Newsom halted the death penalty in California.
Victims, Families Call for End to Violent Crimes
The survivor of childhood abuse, a woman attacked by her personal trainer, and the father of a murdered veteran were among those calling for an end to violent crimes April 19.
Stories of victims and survivors were shared during a Crime Victims Right’s Rally in Santa Ana to remember the lives lost and altered by violence.
“We are joined together by our humanity, by our empathy, by our confliction, by love for each other and for our brothers and sisters,” Orange County District Attorney (OCDA) Todd Spitzer said. “We will not allow any sources of evil to overtake our community.”
