What a windfall | News, Sports, Jobs - The Vindicator

Mar 14, 2021 Campbell Mayor Nick Phillips points to ceilings damaged by flooding and heavy rain. The city hall building on Tenney Avenue is undergoing some work to correct damage, but additional federal funding in response to COVID-19 last week could help the city update its building for employees and the community, Phillips said. Tim Ryan, “a once-in-a-generation opportunity.” But how will their allotments of the latest $1.9 trillion federal COVID-19 relief bill with about $260 million of it coming here be put to use? Weathersfield votes to leave regional chamber | News, Sports, Jobs

WEATHERSFIELD Township trustees voted unanimously to withdraw Weathersfield’s contract with the Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber. The reason for ending the relationship Tuesday came on the heels of former Niles City Councilman Ryan McNaughton being named the chamber’s vice president of governmental affairs. Although none of the trustees named McNaughton, they referenced his new and former titles and his involvement with annexation legislation. While two of the trustees were all for withdrawing, vice chairman Marvin McBride said he had reservations about the move. During a trustees’ meeting, McBride said the board needed to look to the future and see how the decision would affect the township when they are gone. McBride said when dealing with an organization as powerful as the chamber, working with them is more beneficial than working against them.

Weathersfield meetings move to in person | News, Sports, Jobs

WEATHERSFIELD After almost a year of virtual meetings, township trustees say they will return to in-person sessions. Weathersfield Town-ship on its social media page said “the board of trustees is pleased to announce that beginning next month they will resume in-person meetings at the administration building.” Trustee Chairman Steve Gerberry said he is glad to see the move to in-person and believes this is a step toward normalcy during the COVID-19 pandemic. “I think it’s good for us as elected officials that we’re able to see and be with each other. I think it would make things run a little smoother for us,” Gerberry said. “Hopefully this is a good first step to get us back to where we were before.”
