THE Bradford Bulls captain has joined in with last-minute preparations as Odsal prepares to return as the club’s home this weekend. Steve Crossley was spotted cleaning the windows at Odsal yesterday ahead of Bulls’ home clash there against York City Knights tomorrow (3pm kick-off). It will be the first time the ground has held a home Bulls match since September 2019. He tweeted: “Was great to help out getting the Old Girl ready for its grand reopening on Sunday for the Bradford Bulls vs York City Knights game.” The Bulls thanked Crossley for his work at the ground in a tweet of their own.
Beckfoot Thornton s Ben Whelan, 16, has signed a two-year deal with League Two team Mansfield Town. What makes it even more remarkable is the teenage sensation, from Clayton, has never officially been part of an academy system in the past. The move stems from a trial at Sheffield United when after failing to make the grade, one of their recruitment team noticed Ben s potential and put his name out there. Plenty of interest came his way before Ben and his family decided a move down to Nottinghamshire would be best. It is his resolve to bounce back from rejection which makes him special, according to his dad Mark and PE teacher Rachel Ballantyne.
Combination tests could be a real game changer this winter, if with a single nasal swab, doctors are able to test patients for several different respiratory.
