Marquette Law School to host Policing and Accountability — A Community Conversation, March 10 » Urban Milwaukee

  By Marquette University - Mar 4th, 2021 03:42 pm MILWAUKEE Marquette University Law School will host prominent members from the local policing and justice communities for a virtual conference, “Policing and Accountability A Community Conversation,” on Wednesday, March 10, at 12:15 p.m. The conference will explore two key questions facing Wisconsin: what can be done to improve relations between law enforcement and the community and what the law provides about how deadly-force incidents are investigated and charged. The event will be presented in two parts. Registration is available online for the event, which will be available on demand shortly after its completion. “Policing and Accountability A Community Conversation” is presented by the Law School’s Lubar Center for Public Policy Research and Civic Education and is part of the university’s Marquette Forum.

Harmening was called upon to testify on behalf of the Anderson family in yet another attempt to criminally charge Wauwatosa Police Officer Joseph Mensah somehow for the six-year-old shooting death. In addition, Wisconsin Right Now found that Harmening, a professor who told a judge that Mensah’s use of force was not “reasonable,” was previously accused of presenting a conclusion against a police officer that was “riddled with errors.” Harmening’s expert testimony was limited in other cases, and another judge raised questions about some of his findings.
