JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Post 14 Eagles left 12 runners on base on Friday evening as they lost 6-4 to the Mandan Post 40 Chiefs to begin the Phil Brown Classic.
Jamestown never led on Friday, but the opportunities were there for the Eagles to go in front of Mandan. In the bottom of the fourth, Post 14 trailed 4-1 when Jacoby Nold cleared the bases with a double into the gap in left field that scored three and tied the game at four. The Chiefs would respond immediately in the fifth, regaining the lead for good. However, Jamestown did have a chance to take the lead in the bottom of the fifth when the Eagles loaded the bases with no one out, but Mandan starter Stetson Kuntz struck out two and got a groundout to work out of the jam.
