These are just some of the top photos this week from Space.com.  Perseverance s first image of Mars This is the incredible first image of the Martian landscape from NASA s Perseverance rover, which touched down on Thursday (Feb. 18). This image was beamed back to Earth just minutes after the landing. The photo was taken by hazard cameras attached to the spacecraft.

The mission, which is made up of two satellites, imaged the tiny island for Valentine s Day. Valentine Island is just about 1 mile (1.60 kilometers) long and 0.15 miles (250 meters) wide and can be found in the King Sound, a large gulf that has one of the highest tides in all of Australia. Space can be a wondrous place, and we ve got the pictures to prove it!
