Lisle mayoral candidate Stephen A. Winz failed in his bid for mayor after several incidents in his past came to light during his campaign.
With 93.33% of precincts reporting, Winz had 903 votes, coming in behind Christopher R. Chris Pecak with 1,498 votes and ahead of Sara Sadat with 755 votes.
Winz, a village trustee, was involved in
a bar fight in 2017 after he allegedly harassed a one-legged man. In a police report by Lisle Police Officer Jason Hurt regarding the incident, Hurt wrote that one witness stated that Winz was rude to the one-legged guy, and after identifying that person, he noted everyone was refusing to talk with the officers or were giving different versions of the event.

As he runs for a second term, incumbent Mayor Christopher Chris R. Pecak faces challenges from current Lisle Village Trustees Sara Sadat and Stephen A. Winz in the 2021 consolidated election.

After Lisle resident James Stramaglia posted images of a Lisle Police Department arrest report for Winz’s 2016 arrest for disorderly conduct, it seems that someone is taking revenge.
On March 3, Stramaglia posted an image that included a copy of the
mayoral candidate’s 2016 police report, along with DuPage County Board member Liz Chaplin’s photo, and a screenshot of her support for Winz. He questioned whether Chaplin was maintaining her endorsement.
Days later, a supporter of mayoral candidate Winz has been
accused of fabricating a fake police report alleging that James Stramaglia was involved in an incident where he allegedly had a blood alcohol content level of 6.03%, failed to pay attention, and acted erratically.
Stephen A. Winz, a current mayoral candidate for Lisle and a member of the Village Board of Trustees, once posted on Facebook that he urinated on Ronald Reagan’s boyhood home.
When Lisle mayoral candidate Stephen A. Winz was arrested in 2016 for disorderly conduct, he threatened officers after they were called when he was accused of paying with a fake $100 bill.
In the arrest report, Officer James Dexter said when Winz, currently a Lisle trustee, was in booking, he shouted at and threatened officers.
“At 4:56am Winz decided to leave and gathered all his property,” Dexter wrote in the report. “As we were leaving out the side door Winz looked at me and stated ‘I hope all the niggers kill you, I swear to fucking God I hope they kill you all. Black Lives Matter.’”
