Many North Shore School officials are requesting that educators be reclassified in the state’s vaccination plan, granting them access to COVID-19 vaccinations now, during Phase I.
Phase I includes COVID-19 facing health care providers, first responders, staff and residents at congregate care settings, among others at high-risk for contracting the vi.
As it stands now, educators are not eligible to receive vaccinations until Phase II of the plan, which begins in February.
The North Shore Superintendents’ Round Table, which represents 29 districts, made their request known in a letter to Gov. Charlie Baker.
“We cite the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in urging you to prioritize the health and well being of our educators so that Massachusetts school districts can operate at the fullest possible strength as our nation begins to emerge from this global pandemic,” the letter states.

SALEM, MA Salem Public Schools conducted nearly 2,000 coronavirus tests in advance of this week s return to hybrid learning with Superintendent Stephen Zrike saying on Wednesday that 31 of those tests came back positive.
Tests were made available to students, staff and family of students. Zrike said one faculty member tested positive, along with 19 students and 11 family members, out of the 1,850 tests.

Should snow days include the consistency of remote learning or the rest and relief of a day off for students and staff? That will be a question for North Shore superintendents in 2020-21 and possibly beyond. (Mike Carraggi/Patch)
SALEM, MA The predawn anticipation of huddling next to the radio for snow cancellations may be a distant thing of the past in the age of social media blasts and automated calls, but in 2020 a new wrinkle to the school snow day is whether that means a day or off or a day in front of the computer for North Shore students.
