There’s a small but growing effort on some campuses to give more of a sense of belonging to rural students, with rural student clubs and resource centers.
On Tuesday, a candlelight vigil was held at Chico State’s Jewish Student Union, Hillel, in observance of the tragic Israel-Hamas war. Outside on the patio, attendees formed a large circle. A man was arrested after reports of someone carrying an unloaded firearm at around 3:50 p.m. at University Village. Chico and University Police departments were made aware of the disturbance by a witness report. Chief of Police Christopher Nicodemus said the report described a subject who exited his vehicle and dropped what appeared.
