Monroe Township awarded $550K Pavement Preservation grant for South Middlesex Industrial Park Monroe Township awarded $550K Pavement Preservation grant for South Middlesex Industrial Park Monroe Township will receive a $550,000 Pavement Preservation grant from the New Jersey Department of Transportation (DOT) for improvements to portions of South Middlesex Avenue and Fitzgerald Avenue located in the South Middlesex Industrial Park. “Monroe Township is one a few municipalities across the state to receive funds from this competitive grant. The council and I recognize that securing these grants plays a vital role in maintaining Township infrastructure and ensuring safe travel for all who traverse our municipality,” Mayor Stephen Dalina said in a prepared statement. “I am thankful to the 14th Legislative District, including Senator [Linda] Greenstein and Assemblymen [Wayne] DeAngelo and [Dan] Benson for their hard work in support of Monroe Township.”

Monroe mayor proposes creation of Economic Development Advisory Board; dovetails with Master Plan review MONROE – Mayor Stephen Dalina is proposing the creation of a township Economic Development Advisory Board in efforts to promote economic growth and job creation by aligning local business leaders with elected officials to maximize the talents of the community and its workforce. He will present an ordinance for introduction establishing the advisory board before the Township Council on May 3, according to a release from the mayor’s office. “We want to work collaboratively with Monroe’s business leaders to attract businesses that will add to the township’s already strong and diverse economic community,” Dalina said in the statement.

Monroe new COVID-19 cases up 60 in a week The seven-day period was from March 25-31. The age range of the new cases are from 5-103. There are a total of 67 cases reported from the New Jersey Training School for Boys. Thirty-three additional positive community-wide cases were reported from October through March. The township has lost one more resident to COVID-19, which brings the total number of residents lost to 174, 88 in long-term care facilities and 86 community-wide. Vaccinations Vaccination center coordinated by the Middlesex County Board of Health is open at the Monroe Senior Center. Vaccines are administered by appointments only through the NJ Vaccine Scheduling System on the state’s website at covidvaccine.nj.gov. The senior center was designated as one of five regional vaccination centers operating through the County vaccination program.
