Woolworths Group will use the HPE GreenLake edge-to-cloud platform to power its new Wpay payment as a service business.
Woolworths announced Wpay last month. The idea is to take advantage of Woolworths Group s position as Australia s fifth largest processor of card payments to provide payments services to other businesses.
The move seems to be linked to the proposed separation of Endeavour Group (the drinks business) from the rest of Woolworths.
Wpay provides transaction processing, settlement, POS terminals, reporting and analytics, and supports split tendering for online and in-store payments.
Woolworths Group is a long standing HPE customer, and its existing payments platform already processes nearly 30 million transactions a week.
