Duncan McCann, a father-of-three, has accused YouTube of gathering data on the viewing habits of up to five million British children under the age of 13.
The complaint is the first test of the UK's 2020 Children's Code. TikTok is not the only social media platform the UK is finding faults on. The country's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) recently received a complaint from a charity group against Alphabet's YouTube for allegedly unlawfully gathering data on children.
An official complaint has been filed against YouTube in the UK for collecting locations, viewing habits, and preferences of up to 5 million children, in violation of the UK Children's Code.
