When Kyle and Stephanie Vetter opened their urban farmhouse brewery in 2017, 1840 Brewing Company was intended as a space to brew and share the beers they love. Barrel fermented brews were one goal, while the other was creating a gathering space.
The Bay View brewery was drawing crowds every weekend, looking forward to adding hours and events, then suddenly in 2020, things shut down. They’re such a small space they chose to open only for takeout and curbside, and yet they’ve continued to draw customers each weekend for pickups and new releases.
Kyle Vetter, the head brewer, is always looking for ways to give back, so when Grant Pauly of Sheboygan’s 3 Sheeps Brewing asked him to join the second SOS Project, he immediately said yes.
