Coronavirus herd immunity is unlikely, says Manitowoc health officer

MANITOWOC - Herd immunity against COVID-19 is unlikely to be reached, says Manitowoc County Health Officer Stephanie Lambert. “I think it will be an endemic virus like the flu,” Lambert said. “We will see it circulate the community and it will constantly be popping up with little flares here and there. That doesn’t mean we’re not going to get back to normal, Lambert continued, but unfortunately COVID-19 will be part of a new normal, just as the flu is part of our normal every winter.” Lambert and Emergency Services Director Travis Waack presented an update on how the county is continuing to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic to the County Board of Supervisors Tuesday.
