NEW HAVEN Two women were arrested Tuesday evening after police allegedly found a stolen handgun in their car during a traffic stop, according to New Haven police.
Officers stopped a 2014 Mercedes C250 that allegedly failed to use its turn signal near Kossuth Street and Congress Avenue at 9:18 p.m. Tuesday, Sgt. Shayna Kendall said in an email.
“Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop to address the violation with the operator, Sandy Inthisone, accompanied by her passenger, Stephanie Camacho. When officers requested and gathered the required operator and vehicle documentation, Inthisone provided officers with a clear bag containing a plant-like substance which tested positive for the presence of marijuana,” Kendall said. “Officers conducted a search of the vehicle which revealed a semi-automatic handgun which was discovered to have been stolen.”
