Metso Outotec announces key executive appointments
DUBAI, 4 days ago Metso Outotec, a mining engineering company headquartered in Finland, has announced two major appointments - Markku Teräsvasara as the new President (Minerals) and Sami Takaluoma as President (Services) - in its executive team with immediate effect. An industry veteran, Teräsvasara was earlier the president for services business area. He replaces Stephan Kirsch, who is leaving the organisation for personal reasons. In addition to being the President (Minerals), Teräsvasara will also continue as Deputy CEO of the company. Heikki Metsälä will now replace him. Previously Metsälä served as SVP, Mill & Chute lining business line in the consumables business area management team.
Metso Outotec signs contracts in Russia for zinc, copper projects

Metso Outotec Corp. (Helsinki, Finland) has signed a contract to deliver a complete package of key process equipment for a greenfield zinc plant in Verkhny Ufaley in the Chelyabinsk region in Russia. The contract value of approximately EUR 100 million has been booked in Metso Outotec’s fourth-quarter 2020 order intake, a quarter of which will be booked in Minerals segment and the rest in Metals segment.
“Metso Outotec has been supplying minerals processing and metals refining technologies to our customers in Russia for a long time. The new zinc plant will utilize Metso Outotec’s proprietary technology, which is both sustainable and highly cost-effective,” says Jari Ålgars, President, Metals business area at Metso Outotec.
