Angela Benjamin
At the entrance to Angela Benjaminâs shed is a copper sign that reads: âShe Caveâ, and a deep purple clematis weaves its way through the letters. The shed is a simple wooden structure at the end of her garden in Ealing, west London that backs on to a cemetery â âso I donât disturb anyone when Iâm working!â
In here, Benjamin handmakes wearable, sustainable art jewellery. What began as a hobby has recently grown into a second career for her. âIâm a physiotherapist by profession but with the onset of the first lockdown, my full-time role was suddenly restricted to virtual consultations,â she explains. âWhile these were helpful to my clients, there were obvious limitations, so I found myself with more time available to make jewellery.â

Grenada: “The man who mapped a nation by hand”
[Many thanks to Peter Jordens for bringing this item to our attention.] Steph Keelan and Chris Black (
BBC Travel) write about Telfor Bedeau, known as “the Indiana Jones of Grenada,” who “has kayaked around his Caribbean island home, walked nearly every inch of it and climbed its highest peak 217 times.”
Beyond Grenada’s picture-perfect beaches, the Caribbean nation is a nature lover’s paradise of lush rainforests, crashing waterfalls and soaring mountain ranges. For the past 60 years, those who ventured deep into the wilds of the Grand Etang Nature Reserve in Grenada’s interior were likely to spot Telfor Bedeau as he hiked its many trails and pathways.
