In the south bay this morning. Officers opening fire on a suspect in milpitas. Police blocked off the area right near interstate 680 as this Investigation Continues. Active scene where Stephanie Chuang with more on how this all unfolded. Good morning. I understand from a Milpitas Police lieutenant how this happened. Around 1 00 this morning, the officer made a traffic stop across the street at the executive inn where a car is still parked there. A man takes off running across the boulevard here. An officer opened fire, shoots the man who ends up on the northbound 680 on ramp here off. He was arrested there. The man was taken away in an ambulance to a local hospital where he is getting treatment under the supervision of officers. Police do not know his condition but say he likely did not suffer lifethreatening injuries. More an dozen Police Officers as well as chp officers have been on scene.
