Local roundup: Hanover girls hoop stays perfect with second win in 24 hours

Stella Galanes scored as many points in the middle two periods as visiting Kearsarge did on Saturday, leading the Hanover High girls basketball team to a 72-22 win over the Cougars and a second victory over the span of less than 24 hours.
The Marauders (6-0) needed Galanes to get them going with Kearsarge down only 13-7 after one quarter. Galanes proceeded to pump in 22 of her game-high 25 points in the second and third quarters as Hanover pulled away.
Melissa Whitmore, a day after a career-high 24 points in a 67-41 win over Fall Mountain, contributed 16 points in Saturday’s victory. Jane Lackley added nine points, and Caroline Adams contributed eight.
