Up until now, DCI Tom Brannick (James Nesbitt) has been investigating a 20-year-old murder-mystery plot. Goliath is the codename for an unidentified killer, thought to be a police insider, who was responsible for the deaths of four people – both Catholic and Protestant – in the run up to the Good Friday Agreement. The sensitive nature of the killings, and their timing, led to a cover-up in the interests of keeping the peace.
