New Zealand VC Firm Movac Invests in Dawn Aerospace

Photo: Dawn Aerospace One of New Zealand’s largest venture capital companies is making an investment into a space transportation company. Movac has announced that it investing in Dawn Aerospace, a company that is creating next-generation space transportation technologies. This investment will be used to scale the production of Dawn’s in-space propulsion products, and to progress Dawn’s Mk-II, a suborbital plane that utilizes rocket engines, to a fully-fledged commercial service. Like Movac, Dawn Aerospace is also based in New Zealand. The specific monetary value of the investment was not disclosed.

Dawn Aerospace validates B20 Thrusters in space – Bits&Chips

6 May Dawn Aerospace has hit a major milestone. The Dutch-Kiwi (New Zealand) space company has successfully tested and proven its B20 thrusters used to help small satellites navigate through space. The thrusters were attached to D-Orbit’s Ion space-tug satellite carrier, where Dawn performed hundreds of in-space firings by each of the thrusters. Moreover, the rockets fired used an alternative propellant to the commonly used hydrazine, which is difficult to store and is harmful to human health (link in Dutch).
