fraud. kari lake is one of the most recent victims you talked about before this segment. and they re going to recognize the truth, the stone-cold truth that our elections are free and fair and we need to stand by them. and whatever we can do with new legislation to protect the integrity of our election, and the electoral college process, we need to do. it s not a partisan issue. it s an issue about democracy in this country. i want to turn to immigration. maria, republicans and democrats have been calling on president biden to visit the border. now, he is taking this crisis seriously. here is congressman henry kular. i don t know why they keep avoiding the border and saying there s other things more important than this at the border. if there s a crisis, show up. just show up.
comes together, republicans and democrats come together, to figure out a real solution. and i know my friend, alice, agrees with me. we need to figure out a way to have a legal flow of migrants that want to come here and work and go back home. we know we need workers in this country. let s try to figure out a way to allow them to do that. we need to put more resources at the border for security as well as for processing asylum cliaim. it s the only way that this is going to be fixed, paula. whenever republicans decry there s a lack of border security because the border is open, that to me is a red flag of republicans not really wanting a solution, of republicans wanting to continue to use these migrants as political footballs. this is very personal to me. as you know, i am an immigrant. my family came here from one of these countries that these migrants are fleeing from.
being written on this chapter of donald trump s presidency and his legacy. i have spoken with many republicans on the hill and people across the country who have been staunch trump supporters. of all of the things that came out of what we heard in this testimony is the acknowledgment from john eastman, former president s attorney, who said that donald trump told him and knew that these claims of voter fraud were not true. and he still continued to file claim after claim in court after court and challenge the certification of the election and didn t stop the insurrection at the capitol. the more people that recognize the fact that donald trump pushed this lie, knowing it was false, they will feel betrayed. and more and more people are acknowledging that. and what we re seeing with the finds of this, this gives people cover or permission to turn the page on donald trump. many people have run for office in the midterm elections and lost because they ran on the nonsense of false election
of 50 on christmas day. same thing for dallas. atlanta getting back over the freezie ing mark. we re going to see more areas warm back up early next week. in fact, by the end of the week, a lot of places in the eastern half of the country could end up with temperatures above normal for a change. quite a little bit of a difference there between christmas and new year s. take atlanta, for example. high just barely above freezing on sunday. by the time we get to the end of the week, back into the 60s. a brutally cold christmas eve in store for el paso, texas, especially if you re a migrant forced to sleep in the streets in below temperatures. that s the reality for migrants that don t have documentations and aren t allowed to use government-run shelters. churches and charities can offer shelter to undocumented migrants. but is there enough support to go around.
it s been good and sunnier. that s helped a lot in terms of the weather and how they are feeling. they don t want to stay here. they don t want to stay on the streets. they are hoping to go to where they have family members or friends. a lot of them don t have a bus ticket or a plane ticket where they want to go to. a lot of them are trying to figure out what to do next. a lot of them doing they will do everything they can to stay in this country for their children. i can see in your live shot, there s a lot of children among the throngs of people. are they getting prioritized for shelter? especially tonight, as the temperatures drop. reporter: the children are getting priority. but you see there s so many of them. an they only have space in this particular shelter at the church for 130 people.
