UCSB Jumps on Cal Poly Early, Rolls to 12-3 Victory

A six-run first inning sparked the UCSB baseball team to a 12-3 win over Cal Poly on Sunday, giving the Gauchos the four-game Big West Series, 3-1.
JD Callahan (3-2) was solid in his Sunday start at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium, tossing seven full innings and allowing just three runs, all of which came in the fourth inning. He gave up eight hits across the start, had no walks, and struck out six.

Just as the Gauchos wrapped up the series this weekend against Cal State Northridge. Letâs take a look at how the team is doing a little past the halfway point of the season.Â
With much to play for as the season goes on, the Gauchos are in the midst of a battle for the top spot in the Big West with UC rival, UC Irvine. Although the Gauchos boast a better win percentage at 70% as opposed to UCIâs 65.5% in conference play, the Gauchos are a game back of the Anteaters.Â
