They were very active in political campaigns and that loophole of what we knew about it for years and years and years was not corrected. My first term in the legislature in 2009 was the first year the legislature was publicly financed. I cant point to a direct correlation. But i think it was about two weeks after we were sworn in that we came in and corrected that loophole and those funds are returned to the public. And so thats a clear example of a special interest that had been able, to no pun intended, bottle up legislation.
