　　1970年11月，在“东方红一号”卫星发射后的6个月，中国第一份研制导航卫星的论证报告完成。当时已经做出样星的导航系统，有着一个生动的代号 “灯塔计划”。虽然最终因技术方向转型、财力有限等原因终止，但它却如同黑夜中的明灯，以十余年的设计和研制，为北斗卫星积累了宝贵的工程经验。 　　1983年，以陈芳允院士为代表的专家学者，提出了利用2颗地球同步轨道卫星来测定地面和空中目标的设想。经过大量理论和技术研究工作，“双星定位”系统概念逐步明晰。 　　其实，为了验证“双星定位”的可行性，陈芳允带领研究小组在新疆、广西和北京的卫星测控站，利用午夜0至2时之间两颗通讯卫星的空余时段进行试验。 　　一张拍摄于1989年9月25日的照片，记录了中国第一次成功利用两颗卫星实现定位的功能演示。 　　1994年2�

1970年4月，当“东方红一号”卫星播放着《东方红》乐曲从北京上空飞过时，孙家栋和一同做研究的同志仰望星空，如同看到自己的孩子降生般百感交集。 “东方红一号”卫星发射成功后，孙家栋相继担任了第二颗人造卫星、第一颗返回式卫星、第一颗地球静止轨道试验通信卫星的技术总负责人和总设计师，并参与领导了其他各类卫星的研制发射工作。 1985年10月，当我国又将一颗返回式遥感卫星发射升空后，时任航天工业部部长李绪鄂向世界宣布：中国的运载火箭将投入国际市场，承担国外卫星发射业务。 这个消息震动了国际航天界。那时，美国和法国垄断着国际宇航发射市场。然而1986年，世界航天界的4次大爆炸，使欧美诸国陷入低谷，却为中国进入国际市场提供了难得的良机。 为此，孙家栋扮演起“生意人”的角色。在1988年10月，孙家�
