The WWE Royal Rumble match card received a major shake-up on SmackDown this week. In the closing moments of the show, Kevin Owens was revealed to have taken Adam Pearce s spot in the Universal Championship Match against Roman Reigns at the Rumble. Not only that, but the match will now be a Last Man Standing Match. Additionally, we had a new entrant revealed for the men s Rumble match.

Shinsuke Nakamura Reacts To Return Of Old Theme Song Rising Sun
Shinsuke Nakamura is in the midst of a new babyface push on WWE SmackDown. Seemingly out of nowhere, Nakamura received a hard push during last week s Gauntlet Match to determine opponent for Roman Reigns at the Royal Rumble. This followed Nakamura wrestling mostly in tag team action alongside Cesaro for months and having not won a singles bout since September of last year. However, WWE is clearly behind this idea to give him some renewed focus in the singles division.
This week on SmackDown, Nakamura defeated Jey Uso clean in the opening match of the show. Other than that big victory, what was also significant was that Nakamura made his entrance to his old theme song. Fans will remember his iconic Rising Sun song which often featured sing-alongs with fans in packed arenas across the country.

Jey Uso Announces Royal Rumble Spot And Says He Plans To Challenge The WWE Champion
Jey Uso has declared his spot for the WWE Royal Rumble.
Uso took the mic before tonight’s WWE SmackDown opener against Shinsuke Nakamura and announced that he will be in the upcoming Men’s Royal Rumble Match.
It’s interesting to note that Uso said he and WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns aren’t satisfied with just running SmackDown, so he plans on winning The Rumble and going on to WrestleMania 37 to challenge either WWE Champion Drew McIntyre or WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg for the title. Goldberg is set to challenge McIntyre for the WWE Title at the Rumble pay-per-view.
Alexa Bliss vs. Asuka Match Announced For WWE Raw This Week
Alexa Bliss will wrestle her first match of 2021 this Monday night on Raw. WWE has announced that Bliss will take on the Raw Women s Champion, Asuka, in a non-title match this week. This is Bliss s first match since a November 23rd bout with Nikki Cross on Monday Night Raw. Prior to that, Bliss had not wrestled since September 25th, so this will be only her second match in the last four months.
Also announced for the show is Randy Orton addressing the fireball spot with Bliss that closed last week s Raw. WWE did provide an injury (storyline) update on Orton earlier this week, noting that he suffered minor burns to the face.
