Snow begins falling on Staten Island ahead of NYC winter storm

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. Light snow began to fall on Staten Island Wednesday afternoon ahead of a massive nor’easter on its way to New York City.
Flurries were seen in various neighborhoods on the borough around 2 p.m. as winds began to pick up intensity ahead of the evening commute.
About an hour after the initial flakes fell, the tops of cars could be seen covered by a light dusting and small patches of pavement were observed with minor accumulation.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. The first major snowstorm of the season is slated to slam Staten Island Wednesday with a range of forecasts predicting snowfall totals ranging from six inches to well over a foot.
AccuWeather senior meteorologist Tom Kines told the Advance/SILive.com the storm is looking “like a pretty bad storm for the area.”
