The state has named the winners of this year’s Hawai‘i Wildlife Conservation and Game Bird Stamp Art Contest. Alvin Galvez’s painting of a kāhuli is the winner of the conservation stamp. Lauren Trangmar won the game bird stamp with her image of the chestnut-bellied sandgrouse.
Conservation stamp winner, Alvin Galvez featured an endangered land snail found only on Oʻahu in his design. Game Bird stamp winner, Lauren Trangmar featured the chestnut-bellied sandgrouse, a popular game bird native to Africa and Asia and brought to Hawaiʻi in the 1960s in her design.
