constitution without any sense of favor. so i do think that that attorney s words are really just not good things to say. and i hope that does not happen. in this country, we have to agree to disagree. when we have issues of disagreement, we go to a court. and then we all have to agree to listen to that court. we are all citizens, whether we agree with each other or not. we are americans in this united states. and we need to have faith in the judicial process. that doesn t mean that we necessarily agree with an outcome. but we decide that, as americans, we are going to follow decisions of the united states supreme court and other courts. i think you made a lot of interesting points. we want people to hear them all. you said you ll be following the result. i ll extend an early invite now, when that decision from the supreme court comes down, it

to disqualifying trump from the ballot, if that s deemed by this or other states to be their desired legal outcome. ranaudo, first, your reaction to the supreme court even taking this case, getting involved? i think it s the right move. the supreme court ultimately was going to have to get involved here. and it s better to do so earlier on an expedited schedule rather than later. that said, i really think that the supreme court has got a number of outs that it has where it can essentially get trump back on the ballot. and with this majority, i really would not be surprised if they decide that the amendment is not self executing or he s not an officer of the united states or this is a political question or one of a number of ways that they can essentially sidestep this issue. right. you re referring to the underlying merits, the meat of what was debated in that colorado court proceeding and why you think they could

now, we can disagree with that you wouldn t say he had the due process of like a criminal defendant, would you? no, because it s not a criminal case. there s different standards for a criminal case than a civil case. but i do think it s really dangerous to say that the courts in colorado did not do an efficient job that respects the law and due process rights. and i highly disagree with you saying this sets a downward spiral precedent. if a candidate or someone wanting to run for office again engages in insurrection, we need a court to adjudicate those questions and do it looking at evidence, looking at witnesses, having a standard of procedure, just like what happened in colorado. so i don t think that this case should notbe adjudicated. donald trump is a danger to this country, i believe that.

process, about which we ll get into, when is, fairness, due process, rules of evidence and justice. all of that requires not abusing a state process or the state courts just because you disagree with someone. in other words, just trying to get around the actual election and the actual participation of the voting public to disqualify those you disagree with. that is why it is supposed to be a very high bar, and that s why we try to keep it real. i m telling you, this case is a long shot for all those reasons. and unless donald trump is actually formally convicted of insurrection, it would be hard to see whether and why this should be the route to stopping him by the end of the year. i want to bring back in our guests. rick, we have a freewheeling debate around here. i welcome you to expand, oppose, disagree with any of that summary i gave. but i do think, as the court takes this case and this is big news tonight.
