A lawyer for Rex A. Heuermann is opposing a prosecution request to take a cheek swab from him, arguing that prosecutors have failed to demonstrate probable cause that Heuermann killed three women.
More than 2,500 documents were provided to the defense, which includes anthropological and DNA evidence, notes from the offices of the medical examiners in New York City and Suffolk County and photographs from the crime scenes where the remains of the three women Rex A. Heuermann is accused of killing.
"As you can see, we have people from the medical examiner's office, state police, Nassau police, and so everybody's working together," said Rodney K. Harrison, as he spoke to reporters near Rex Heuermann's home.
The equipment was brought to the rear of suspect Rex A. Heuermann's Massapequa Park home. The focus of the investigation appears to have shifted to the backyard.
