Tacoma park officially renamed to honor first Black woman to serve as Washington senator

TACOMA, Wash. Metro Parks Tacoma has officially renamed the park next to Franklin Elementary School after Rosa Franklin, the first Black woman to serve as a Washington state senator.
The park was originally named after one of the country s founders Benjamin Franklin.
A champion of health equity and housing, Franklin’s career highlights include the Washington Housing Policy Act and the Governor’s Interagency Council on Health Disparities.

TACOMA, Wash. During a press conference Thursday afternoon, Gov. Jay Inslee announced every county will be moved to Phase 3 in the state s Roadmap to Recovery plan starting next Tuesday.
The governor’s announcement means that restaurants, gyms, and places of worship in Pierce County will now be allowed to open up their indoor capacities to 50%, and 50 people will be allowed at outdoor gatherings, while indoor gatherings are capped at ten people.
