goa: Goa identifies 70 accident-prone zones for installation of AI cameras to enhance road safety

Disorderly driving and the damaging of traffic medians, which enable two-wheelers to change lanes haphazardly, have been identified as major contributors to safety issues and accidents in these areas. To address this problem, the transport department plans to increase personnel at the backend to remotely monitor these locations. Collaborative discussions are underway with the Goa police s traffic cell to determine the optimal spots and angles for camera placement. The associated costs for installing cameras at these priority locations are also being finalized.

Assam: 56% road accident victims from 2018 to 2021 aged 18-35

A total of 8,803 persons died in road accidents in Assam in the last three years among which 56 per cent belong to the most productive age group of 18 to 35 years.  Assam Transport Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary informed this at a meeting of the State Road Safety Council in Guwahati on Tuesday. Express News Service VIJAYAWADA:  Faulty road engineering, bad designs and lack of signage boards to restrict speed limit on various roads are the major reasons for the rise in the number of road accidents in Krishna district, as per a study conducted by Transport department officials and road safety experts on NHs and state highways passing through the district. As per the information provided by department, a total of 1,951 people were killed in road accidents across Krishna in the last three years (since 2018). As many as 1,380 road accidents were reported and 2,422 injured in 2018. About 2,458 accidents occurred during 2019. Of these, 702 persons lost their lives and 2,704 were injured. Last year, the district reported 1,846 accidents claiming the lives of 570 people and inuring 1,846.
