CLINTON An affidavit reveals more details of a high-speed chase leading to the arrest of a man who now faces several charges from three different counties.
Joshua Elliott, 40, of Clinton, remains in custody after he reportedly led police on a chase that ended in an armed, hourslong standoff on East River Road in Clinton on Thursday. Police had been seeking Elliott prior to Thursday’s chase to serve him warrants on theft and burglary charges from Piscataquis County. He also faces charges of theft, burglary and violating conditions of release from Somerset County following a Feb. 1 incident.

Clinton Police have been actively seeking Joshua Elliot, 40, of Clinton for felony warrants. The warrants were for theft and burglary out of Piscataquis County.
At approximately 9:30 a.m. this morning, March 11, Clinton Police saw Elliot driving a dark-colored truck and attempted to make a stop on the vehicle. The chase began in Clinton near Mile Marker 138, left I95 at mile marker 133 in Fairfield, and continued for approximately 30 minutes.
The chase ended when Clinton PD and Fairfield PD were able to deploy spike mats which incapacitated the vehicle on the East River Road in Clinton.
Mr. Elliot remained in his vehicle and was believed to be armed with a handgun. He made statements that he wanted to be killed by police.
