According to police, the person driving the SUV struck a pedestrian in the parking lot of the Fall River Heritage State Park on Water Street. After striking the victim, the SUV fled the area, heading south on Water Street, police said.

FALL RIVER - State Police and Fall River Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian that occurred April 27 in the parking lot of the Fall River Heritage State Park on Water Street. They are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the driver and vehicle involved.
The involved vehicle was a red sport utility vehicle believed to be a Chevrolet Equinox, most likely a model from 2014-2016. After striking the pedestrian, the SUV fled the area, heading south on Water Street. The driver is believed to have been a young adult woman who had a small child as a passenger.
Saturday morning crash on Route 140 in New Bedford kills one

A victim was pronounced dead after an early morning crash Saturday, Massachusetts State Police announced in a press release.
At 2:28 a.m. Saturday, Troopers assigned to the State Police-Dartmouth Barracks responded to a report of a car into the woods next to the off ramp from Route 140 northbound to Braley Road (Exit 7), New Bedford, state police announced in a news release. New Bedford Fire and EMS also responded.
First responders located a 2019 Kia Optima sedan with a Massachusetts registration that had crashed off the ramp, struck a metal post, and then hit a tree partially into the woods, the release said. Three bystanders were providing medial aid to the victim, a 19-year-old New Bedford man went to St Luke’s Hospital with serious injuries. State Police Seize Gun in Fall River Traffic Stop
A Fall River man who allegedly drove without a license, had a loaded gun in his car, and refused to identify himself to a state trooper now faces charges.
Thursday at around 12:07 a.m. Trooper Joseph Kubicek tried to stop a Honda on Middle Street for a violation, but the car sped off and turned down various side streets in an apparent evasive action, Massachusetts State Police said in a media release. The trooper eventually stopped the car on Third Street.
Police say the driver refused to show a license and registration, and would not give his name. Channara M. Samreth, 27, of Fall River, was removed from the Honda and placed in custody. Police say he was unlicensed, driving on a learner s permit only, and had in his possession a Star semiautomatic .45 caliber loaded gun. Police say Samreth was not licensed to carry a firearm.
