Sat, Jan 2, 2021, 10:31 am SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka. Jan 02, Colombo: An island-wide program to uplift the financial literacy and rescue the rural poor from the micro finance debt trap will be launched in Anuradhapura today (02), the Ministry of Finance announced.
This program conducted by the Department of Samurdhi Development is implemented by the State Ministry of Samurdhi, Home Economy, Micro Finance, Self-Employment and Business Development under the guidance of the State Minister Shehan Semasinghe. In addition, the empowerment of 200,000 Samurdhi beneficiary families will also begin this year.
These facts were revealed at an event held at the State Ministry Friday (01) to mark the commencement of duties in the New Year 2021. Secretary Neil Bandara Hapuhinna and other officials were present at the event presided over by Minister Shehan Semasinghe.
