Over the past 50 years, artists including Andy Warhol, Jeff Koons, Jenny Holzer and Roy Lichtenstein have been selected to use a BMW as their canvas, creating the famous BMW Art Cars. Mehretu’s work, the latest in this series, will be painted on a BMW M Hybrid V8 race car, which will debut on the track at the Le Mans 24-hour race in June 2024.
