Kentucky House to vote on bill limiting no-knock warrants

After lawmakers rejected a statewide ban on no-knock warrants, a Kentucky state House committee advanced a version Wednesday that limits the practice but stops short of a sweeping prohibition, nearly one year after the fatal shooting of Breonna Taylor. It passed the Kentucky Senate unanimously on Feb. 25. Sponsored by GOP Senate President Robert Stivers, the bill mandates that no-knock warrants would only be issued if there was “clear and convincing evidence” that the “crime alleged is a crime that would qualify a person, if convicted, as a violent offender.”

Bars May Stay Open Until 4 a m in Michigan

Bars May Stay Open Until 4 a.m. in Michigan I have been going out to dinner and visited a bar or two the last few weeks for a cold beer. I must admit, I have really missed it.  It s so great to interact with waiters, waitresses, and bartenders again. Last Friday night I was having a good time and they did last call at 9:40.  Seemed off because it was so early to go home on a Friday night. Those folks working the late shift could catch last call, and bars could pocket extra sales after missing out heavily during Michigan s pandemic, if bars and restaurants could stay open till 2, or until 4 a.m.

A Republican state legislator wants to give former President Donald Trump the option of making the State House grounds his final resting place. A bill from GOP state Rep. R.J. May would require the South Carolina Department of Administration to offer any president acquitted of impeachment twice to be buried on State House grounds, according to a statement from May s political consulting firm, Ivory Tusk Consulting. The bill is a rebuttal to one introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives, which would bar any president impeached twice from being buried at Arlington National Cemetery. The U.S. House bill would also bar the federal government from spending money on statues, monuments or symbols commemorating any president who was impeached twice.
