Greg and Sue Lockwood of Ortonville have bought and renovated three historic buildings, as well as an empty lot along Second Street Northwest in the city. They have opened a boutique, art gallery, office and event space over the trio of structures.
When the opulent State Bank Building was constructed in 1909 in downtown Little Rock, it was Arkansas tallest structure at 11 stories. It passed the Southern Trust Building, which had been considered the state s first skyscraper, by one story. The Southern Trust Building, designed by architect George Mann, was built in 1906-07. It still stands at 221 W. Second St. and is now known as Pyramid Place.
Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin on Tuesday announced plans to relocate his office late next year to the historic Boyle Building in downtown Little Rock after renovations to the 12-story property are completed.
