三柳 英樹 キヤノンITソリューションズ株式会社（以下、キヤノンITS）は16日、現実映像とCGをリアルタイムに融合する、MR（Mixed Reality）システムの基盤ソフトウェア「MREAL Platform 2021」の新バージョンを販売開始した。 MREALは、キヤノンの光学技術を駆使し、仮想のCGと現実空間とを違和感なく融合して、自由な視点から体験できる映像技術。ヘッドマウントディスプレイ（HMD）の「MREAL Display」と、MREAL対応表示アプリケーション、その他デバイスを接続する基盤ソフトウェアのMREAL Platformで構成され、自動車メーカーをはじめとする製造業において、デザインや設計データの試作回数を減らし、コスト削減を可能にする業務支援ツールとして活用されている。
