ODOT snow plow crews deployed during nonstop snowstorm week | News

JOHN DAY — A driver going up the snow-blasted switchbacks of Canyon Mountain over Starr Ridge toward Seneca last week gave the thumbs up to a snowplow driver coming down the mountain. The John Day ODOT crew and their counterparts throughout Oregon this past week were busy making their runs up and down state highways and mountain passes, laying down sand and de-icer on the roadway and cutting a path to keep people safe on their travels. Throughout Grant County, the heavy winter maintenance vehicles of the Oregon Department of Transportation were running nonstop for snowstorm operations 24 hours a day in two 12-hour shifts as snow fell constantly throughout the second week of January.
