Each year, ecumenical partners in a different region are asked to prepare the materials for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. This year, Christians from Minnesota developed the resources with input from an international group representing the Roman Catholic Church’s Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity and the World Council of Churches (WCC) Faith and Order Commission. The resources include an ecumenical opening prayer service, biblical reflections and prayers for eight days, and other elements of worship.

The historic punishment handed down Friday to a former police officer for George Floyd s murder evoked both community relief and resolve for more action in the long struggle to end racial injustice.
While acknowledging nothing would compensate for Floyd s death under the knee of Derek Chauvin, activists who have pushed for accountability said they felt some sense of justice from the 22 ½-year prison sentence, a rare punishment of an officer.
Minneapolis has started the process of reopening 38th and Chicago, but many people in the community said they are puzzled at the timing of the decision .
