据广州市五羊天象馆透露：7月12日，夕阳西沉，夜幕降临，天穹将上演少见的三星伴月奇观，弯弯的蛾眉月与金星、火星和“轩辕十四”近在咫尺，呈现有趣的景象。如果天色晴朗，中国各地连续两晚(12日、13日)均可观赏到这一罕见的天象。
7月中旬，新月由西向东(白道，月亮运行的轨迹)追赶着距离地球最近的内行星金星和外行星火星。7月12日17时，月亮追上金星，金星在弯月的南面，两者相距约3度；18时，月亮追上火星，火星在弯月的南面，两者相距约4度。7月13日14时，弯月将追上狮子座最明亮的恒星“轩辕十四”，“轩辕十四”在月亮的南面，两者相距约5度；15时，金星由西向东追上火星，火星在金星的南面，两者相距约0.5度。金星和火星相距这么近，十分少见。如果“超级月亮”此时运行到金星和火星的前面，就可把二者同时遮�
