State: Past info changed regarding vaccine rollout

Misa | Shawnee News-Star | USA Today Network The Shawnee News-Star According to an Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) announcement released Monday, some of the information rolled out with the COVID-19 vaccination process is no longer accurate. Oklahoma received updates Friday from Operation Warp Speed on what can now be expected for the state’s vaccine supply moving forward. “After previous communication with Operation Warp Speed about a reserved supply of second doses for both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, we learned that no such stockpile exists,” OSDH reports. Though Operation Warp Speed (OWS) previously shared there would be a significant increase in supply provided to states in the short term, OSDH reports it received word that such an increase will not occur in the short term.

Salvation Army-Shawnee Capt. Patrick Connelly said 2020 s Red Kettle program that just wrapped up a few weeks ago yielded $71,234.17 just under last year s figures. The Salvation Army in Shawnee has operated with budget deficits over the last several years, he said. “The funds raised this season will enable us to continue the programs and services our community has come to expect,” Connelly said.

Surf Bar moves to new site on Union in Shawnee

The business is owned and operated by Tyler Huebert, along with his longtime girlfriend Westie Sparks and his father, Scott Huebert. The Surf Bar features several all-vegan smoothies and berry bowls without the use of added sweeteners. “We could not be happier with our new neighbor,” Dr. Priscilla Larsen, of Sky Ortho, said. “Not only are Tyler and his crew a great success story, but their delicious smoothies are a healthy option for our orthodontic patients.”
