University of Holy Cross to require COVID-19 vaccine
The University of Holy Cross said Tuesday that it is requiring students, staff and faculty who enter campus buildings to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
Proof of vaccination will be required by Aug. 13, according to an email sent to the UHC community and signed by its president, Stanton McNeely III. The mandate applies to people in residential and non-residential campus buildings.
“A fully-vaccinated UHC campus community enables the best opportunity for a healthy return to high-quality face-to-face teaching and learning,” the email said.
People submitting proof of having had the first dose of a two-dose vaccine will be allowed access to campus and will be marked “partially compliant” until proof of the second dose is provided, it said.
UHC reports summer enrollment rise of over 10%
University of Holy Cross says summer enrollment is 10.5% higher than last summer during the COVID-19 pandemic.
It’s the largest student enrollment increase for the summer semester since 2018, the university said.
The Catholic university on the West Bank began sessions May 24 and has more planned to start in late June and early July.
As of June 1, UHC summer enrollment totaled 484 students compared to 438 students last summer when the university offered only online courses during the height of the pandemic lockdown. In addition, the total number of credit hours taken this summer session is up 6.4% from last summer, a news release said.
