Stanmer Park, Brighton Limited late-night opening will be permitted at a new venue in Stanmer Park selling Sussex wines. The One Garden, a project run by Plumpton College in Stanmer Park, originally applied for a 1am licence to serve alcoholic drinks at its café as well as off-sales from its shop. The application led to seven objections to Brighton and Hove City Council – from individual residents, a residents’ association in Stanmer village and the Brighton and Hove Estates Conservation Trust. They raised concerns about the proposed late-night licence, which initially included music and live performances. However, this element of the application was withdrawn before a council licensing panel met to decide the matter yesterday (Tuesday 27 April).
New parking charges at Stanmer Park in Brighton come into force today. Brighton and Hove City Council say the charges have been introduced in response to concerns from residents and visitors about parking problems in the park during the day . The new measures have also been designed to protect the heritage of the Grade-II listed Historic Park and Garden which is currently undergoing a £5.1 million restoration project, a spokesman for the authority said.
