North Branford's budget proposal uses savings to avoid tax hike

North Branford s budget proposal uses savings to avoid tax hike John Moritz FacebookTwitterEmail North Branford Town Hall is located at 909 Foxon Road.Google Maps NORTH BRANFORD Residents will head to the polls Tuesday to cast their ballots on the town’s proposed $55 million budget, which, if accepted, would lower taxes by 1.3 percent. Voters will be given three options: accepting the budget, rejecting it as too high, or rejecting it as too low. They are not being asked to consider across-the-board budget cuts to make up for the loss in revenues. Earlier versions of the budget proposed by the city departments and Town Manager Michael Paulhus included a proposed increase in the millage tax before it was taken out by the Town Council. The budget for fiscal year 2021 includes a roughly 2 percent increase in spending.
