NORTH BRANFORD Residents will head to the polls Tuesday to cast their ballots on the town’s proposed $55 million budget, which, if accepted, would lower taxes by 1.3 percent.
Voters will be given three options: accepting the budget, rejecting it as too high, or rejecting it as too low. They are not being asked to consider across-the-board budget cuts to make up for the loss in revenues.
Earlier versions of the budget proposed by the city departments and Town Manager Michael Paulhus included a proposed increase in the millage tax before it was taken out by the Town Council. The budget for fiscal year 2021 includes a roughly 2 percent increase in spending.
