Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) Secretary-General Wilson Sossion’s misery continued yesterday after teachers’ representatives from Rift Valley endorsed Collins Oyuu to challenge him in the upcoming union polls.
Teachers from 21 out of the 25 branches in the region unanimously backed Mr Oyuu, currently Knut’s acting national chairman for the secretary-general post in next month’s Special Delegates Conference where new official will be elected.
Early this month, a Nairobi Employment and Labour Relations court dismissed Sossion’s attempt to save his position as a teacher after the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) deregistered him.

The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) woes continue to deepen after some branch members associated with the union turned against their boss Wilson Sossion.
The members led by Stanley Mutai, who recently took over as Kericho branch executive, criticized the manner in which Sossion has conducted operations within the giant union. Sossion has brought this union to the lowest end, we want him out. This is a declaration that we are going to restore the union to its former glory, Mutai stated.

Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary-General Wilson Sossion’s tenure at the helm now stands on shaky grounds after his friend-turned-foe Stanley Mutai managed to capture the Kericho branch post and immediately set his eyes on the SGs post.
Mutai, scored 312 votes to beat Sossion s preferred candidate Anne Chepkoech, who garnered 294 votes in the hotly contested election in which Sossion unsuccessfully attempted to determine the office bearers.
The election was held after the Labour and Relations court in Nakuru threw out a suit filed by Sossion which sought to bar Mutai and other branch officials from participating in the election over corruption allegations.
